I toned down the headline on this post. It’s Sunday. No use carrying a grudge forever.
Yesterday, canvassing for Barack, I ran into the rudest householder so far. I’ll call him Mr. Blowhard.
I asked for his wife. He wasn’t on our list, which usually indicates he’s a lost cause.
“She’s studying. Who are you?”
His clipped tone indicated I should get right to the point.
“Obama. Well, not really Obama……”
“No thanks.” Thanks being the last civilized word I would hear from this man.
The door slammed. And as I headed down the driveway, I could hear his tirade.
“Four more years, my a–!. Blah, blah, blah. A bunch of other vitriol that I don’t remember right now. I just know my mom would have washed his mouth out with soap.
Now, being a pretty tolerant free speech person most times and a Christian raised to turn the other cheek, I would typically ignore this type of behavior. Maybe even say a prayer for the guy. I’m sure he’d appreciate it….Not. But as I walked down the drive I shouted back as well. The gist: you don’t need to be such a jerk. But I’m sure I used a more potent word.
His behavior was over-the-top. Most other people just say they are for the other side and politely shut the door without knocking it off its hinges. I guess he forgot his wife was studying. Good for her. She’s trying to expand her mind. Maybe get a better job. Pursue the American dream. It’s just a shame that her husband wouldn’t give her the consideration of asking whether she would like to speak with the canvasser. I guess her thoughts don’t count. He has enough for everybody. And I presume, I have enough too, which is why I’m drawing all these conclusions without knowing the whole family dynamic. It’s just that I’ve experienced this frustrating phenomenon several times on past campaigns. The alpha-male hiding the little woman in the tower and not handing over the phone or calling her to the door. Note Mr. Blowhard. I don’t care what you think. Think whatever you want. But you don’t need to be a first-class jerk. I was only going to ask a simple question. Is that not allowed in America?
I wondered if this man shows a different face to the rest of the world. Is he a beloved softball coach, on the Knights of Columbus, on the board of directors of some charitable institution? I don’t know. Too bad first impressions are so hard to shake.
But this whole episode is but a pimple of the rear-end of my life. In a couple months, I will be celebrating Obama’s victory, because the race is likely to be decided by Independents, who are carefully considering the options and deciding which man would be better for the country. My job is to try to lay out the evidence, several times to the same person, if need be. Just doin’ my job, ma’am.

ANOTHER EPISODE IN ROMNEYLAND
Last Friday on ABC’s Good Morning, America, Willard Romney said that an income of $200,000 to $250,000 is MIDDLE INCOME.
MIDDLE INCOME?
MIDDLE INCOME?
Where is $250,000 considered middle income?
In Romneyland, that’s where?
Willard you are so out of it.
Just because you’re worth 250 ka-zillion dollars doesn’t mean everybody has gotten rich like you by destroying businesses and causing tens of thousands of workers to lose their jobs.
In fact, The Census Bureau says that the actual median household income in this country is $50,000.
It’s more evidence that Romney lives in that fantasy world called Romneyland.
In Romneyland Willard is some kind of classic businessman building solid companies to give people jobs.
Not so here in the real world. Here, Romney made his fortune by taking over struggling companies, paying himself HUGE consultancy fees and then saddling the companies with debt to pay those consultancy fees. And then shipping the lost jobs out of the country.
My dog knows more about job creation than Romney does because my dog creates a job for me every time he takes a dump in the back yard and I have to clean it up.
And don’t try to tie my dog to the roof of your car, Romney. We’re on to you, Willard.
Here, in the real world, most families are getting by on $50,000 … NOT the $250,000 that dog abuser and vulture, pirate capitalist Romney believes it to be in his crazy, old ROMENYLAND.

WILLARD LOVES THE MASSES IT’S THE INDIVIDUALS HE CAN’T STAND
Willard – my campaign is doing fine — Romney says he’s not worried about 47% of the American people, those people who expect health care and housing and food and other handouts from the gov’t.
47% — that’s a lot of people not to be worried about. That’s like almost HALF (!!!!) of the population. Wow. Half.
As a public service we agreed to interview that 47%, those several hundred million people (SHMP) to see what they thought of being written off by Willard.
US: Hello, several hundred million people (SHMP), thanks for coming in.
SHMP: Thanks for having us, got any free stuff?
US: Like what?
SHMP: Like free health care or free houses or bricks of cheese?
US: We have a half case of bottled water.
SHMP: That’s it?
US: How did you feel when you heard Willard say that he couldn’t be worried about you, that you’d never vote for him?
SHMP: He said that? About us?
US: Yep, he’s live … on tape.
SHMP: Got any free toothpaste or deodorant soaps?
US: Not right now.
SHMP: Is there a chance at any free cancer treatments? Some of us got cancer.
US: Maybe later. Do some of you still intend to vote for Willard, now that he’s called you free loaders?
SHMP: Some of us still like him. Those of us who are opposed to Obama’s European style socialism. It’s ruining the country.
US: Does Romney seem like an elitist? Looking down on the less fortunate?
SHMP: Is there a special line where we can get free shoes and socks?
US: Romney was born to wealth and status, somewhat like the last Republican to occupy the White House. Does that make it hard for him to understand people who’ve had to struggle in life?
SHMP: Probably. You don’t have any Veteran’s benefits or low interest college loans, do you. There’s a lot of injured Vets and some of these kids can’t afford college.
US: Romney says you should get a loan from your parents.
SHMP: Our parents are sick or dead or in Las Vegas cashing their Social Security checks.
US: Okay, well, it’s getting rather ripe in here, so we need to wrap this up. Is there anything you several hundred million people (SHMP) would like to say about Romney’s comments before we end?
SHMP: If this Romney guy gets elected will everybody get a free car elevator installed in their garage …

TIME TO RE-ARRANGE THE DECK CHAIRS
The tape where Willard Romney was secretly recorded stating that 47% of the US population are mooching losers who’ll never take responsibility for themselves, including grandma on Social Security, was made at one of the mansions of Marc Leder, bigwig slimy Republican money man and prominent Republican orgy organizer.
Rags like The New York Post report that Leder hosted wild parties where people ran around nude and performed disgusting Republican missionary style sex acts with their eyes closed while listening to recordings of Ronald Reagan’s bawdier speeches.
This latest disclosure about the foundering Romney presidential effort elicited the following comment from a veteran Republican campaign manager:
‘The only way Obama can lose now is if Al Qaeda crashes a jet liner loaded with nuclear weapons into the Statue of Liberty during Monday night football. It’s over. How do you spell Titanic? M.i.t.t. R.o.m.n.e.y.’

I STAND BY WHAT I SAID … WHATEVER IT WAS … I SAID
Willard Romney: I don’t care about the 47%.
Willard Romney: This campaign is about 100% of the American people.
Willard Romney: On my first day as president I will repeal Obama-care.
Willard Romney: I am the grandfather of Obama-care.
Willard Romney: I support a woman’s right to choose.
Willard Romney: I am pro-life.
Willard Romney: I will build a wall to keep illegals from entering the country.
Willard Romney: It’s not about building walls. It’s about building trust.
****************************************
This week the Romney campaign rebooted six times and rolled out eleven new Romneys for the voters to choose from. Don’t like the current Romney? No problem.
Wait six hours another one’s coming along.
****************************************
If Romney is such a genius as a businessman how come he can’t run a presidential campaign effectively? And if he can’t run an effective political campaign how can he be expected to run the
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA????????????????????????????
*****************************************
Willard’s campaign is in free fall. Fox News polls have him losing by between 5 to 7% in swing states of Ohio, Virginia and Florida. He’s already stopped advertising in Pennsylvania. Huffington Post has him losing 191 Electoral College votes to Obama’s 332 Electoral College votes. Another site has Obama with more than 330 EC votes. Only 270 are needed to win.

Hi Bill:
This blog is done. It was a seasonal special. I’ve asked the N-H to remove it from their blogroll. Don’t know if they’ve done that yet. I continue to be very interested in progressive politics. Got a lot going on at the moment, so I don’t really have time to consider resurrecting two blogs I had going on before this. One was a book review blog and one was political. I’d probably restart the latter if either because politics is kind of more central to my life right now than reading. I haven’t had time to read for pleasure for months.
